Ronan off the Idol Status
07.02.03
Ronan has made girls and
women scream loud when he performs on stage, but it looks like Ronan wants
to move away from the pop idol status he has been known as since moving away
from Boyzone. Speaking to an Asia newspaper in preparation for his show in
Singapore, Ronan clearly made a point about celebrity status: 'I really
don't like the celebrity thing. I've left the whole pop idol scene, I'm no
longer interested in being No. 1."
He talked about family life and
how he deals with group of fans that he constantly gets from gigs: "I wanted to
be a young father, to be young with my kids. The best way to handle groupies is
to be respectful and try to sign their autographs. I've got no problems staying
faithful. When you see my wife, you'd know."
Ronan looked at the future and
was seeing what he would do if people were no longer interested in his music: "I
may want to start writing songs for other people,' he muses. I'm a worrier and
I think those days worrying about my albums charting are over."
We personally think that it is
too early for such thing to happen!! He only started to go solo for real in
2000 and has had hits including three number 1 singles! Finally, Ronan never
forgets the advice his mother told him: "Be nice to everybody on your way up, 'cos
you meet everybody on your way down."

Ronan Keating has been voted the sexiest man in Taoiseach's separated wife.
The ex-Boyzone singer topped a list of the 100 sexiest men in the country in a
pool conducted by several female judges including mum-of-two Mirian Ahern. Ronan
beat 99 other hot contenders for the title including U2 front man Bono,
Hollywood Star Colin Farrell and Westlife hunks Nicky Bryne and Bryan MacFadden.
The female jury – which also included top model Vivienne Connolly and Karla
Elliot (ex-wife of Def Deppard millionaire Joe Elliot) – also nominated radio
stars Gerry Ryan, Ian Dempsey and Ray D'Arcy for the top 100.
Making the list too were sport stars Eamon Dunphy, Brian O'Driscoll, Niall Quinn
and Padraig Harrington.
Dail Eireann's Charlie McGreevy, and Brian Lenihan made the grade as the sexiest
men in Leinster House. Esat tycoon Denis O'Brien, promoter Denis Desmond and
Black Tie boss Nial l O'Farrell are all included in the mixed-bag bunch which
will be published in the glossy Social & Personal magazine this week.

Sexy contenders also included tycoon Dermot Desmond's son Brett and former
supermarket magnate Ben Dunne's son Mark. Ronan's former bandmate Keith also
makes the grade along with crooner Daniel O'Donnell who is dubbed "the sex bomb
of all time". Everyone's taste is different as this list reflects but I think
everyone was in agreement that Ronan is a very sexy man", said Social and
Personal publisher Nell Stewart Liberty. "I don't know if the champagne had
kicked in by the time Daniel
O'Donnell made the list but it's entirely genuine", he added. Ronan and his wife
Yvonne will be the guest of honor at the magazine's launch party in the plush
Four Season's Hotel tonight.

Ronan is caught speeding at 62MPH
Ronan Keating has been caught driving at more than twice the speed limit and
will get two penalty points on his license. The former boyzone star clocked
62mph as he raced into Tullamore, Co. Offaly on January 25th.
Gardai caught Ronan 25, as he drove his Mercedes through a built up zone.
Officers on traffic duty pulled the singer over and gave him an 80 euro fine. He
is the first high-profile celebrity to be caught under the new penalty points
system in the republic. Keating will also get an automatic two-point endorsement
on his license, or three points if the case ends up in court.
A source close to the singer said last night, "He is not very pleased about the
whole thing but he accepts that you can't speed. It was a momentary lapse and he
wouldn't encourage anyone to do the same thing." It will be a blow to Ronan's
squeaky clean image and he is likely to be blasted by road safety groups. (The
